Let it be!

To me, that U.S president's celebrating a specific religious ceremony is totally acceptable. It doesn't mean supporting or making a national religion. It's just an action that makes their relationship better like celebrating friend's birthday. In addition, the mayor's making and naming christmas tree is also acceptable because of the same reason.
Honestly, I'm still not sure about my thoughts of the seperation between states and religions. Mostly I think that it is totally right. However whenever I saw some bad news about religions, I thought that governments should control religions. I think there's no exact answer about this problem.

  1. The issue arises in that the president is no longer a private citizen of the United States. The president is an elected official, representing the entirety of the sovereign nation. The president is now a public figure, the head of the Executive Branch of the United States Government.

As a statehead figure, any action, even a private one as celebrating a religion, can be construed as a government endorsement of that behavior. It's a touchy subject.
